4.1 Provision of Services

PROVISION OF SERVICES

4.1.1 APP shall provide

  1. Approach control service for all aircraft within controlled airspace;
  2. Flight Information service to aircraft in controlled and uncontrolled airspace;
  3. Alerting service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1.2 Approach control service shall be provided to IFR flights, VFR flights in class C airspace, and SVFR flights:-

  1. In IMC;
    1. arriving flights from the time they are released by ACC until they have landed and cleared the runway in use;
    2. departing flights from the holding point prior to entering the runway in use, until they are transferred to ACC.
  2. In VMC;
    1. arriving flights from the time they are released by ACC until they have been released to TWR;
    2. departing flights from the time they are transferred from TWR until they are transferred to ACC.
  3. Overflights from the time they are released from APP/ACC until they are transferred back to APP/ACC.

Note 1: APP may delegate part of its functions to TWR where this is stipulated in Division ATC procedures, i.e. in IMC where TWR is given control of the runway in use, or in VMC with regard to aircraft operating in the traffic circuit.

Note 2: The term “transferred” in Para. a) ii refers to transfer of control (release).
