5.4 Coordination with APP

5.4.1 Standard inbound clearances must be coordinated at start of shift, preferably as per specified in local procedures, otherwise on an ad-hoc/per flight basis as described below.

INBOUND CLEARANCE

5.4.2 ACC shall coordinate overflying flights which will pass through a TMA or CTR with the responsible APP unit, at least 10 minutes before the flights ETA at the TMA or CTR boundary.

5.4.3 An APP clearance shall be obtained for every flight which intends to enter a TMA. Such clearances should be requested at least 10 minutes before entering the TMA so as to permit compliance with any restrictions.

5.4.4 An APP clearance shall contain a clearance limit, flight level or altitude, and EAT or OCT if the aircraft is to be held at a holding point or at an entry beacon.

5.4.5 ACC must request & coordinate any changes to the current clearance with APP.

OUTBOUND CLEARANCE

5.4.6 Although no standard clearances are needed between APP and ACC for departing/outbound flights, ACC could request from APP to clear aircraft on non-standard/flight plan routings on a per flight basis. This routing could be a heading or navigational point (not necessarily in the original flight plan route, but preferably). APP must also advise ACC if he cannot comply with the request and possibly suggest an alternate route.

HOLDING

5.4.7 When conditions (weather or other) require holding aircraft for APP, ACC shall clear arriving aircraft to the holding point, including holding instructions incl. an Expected Approach Time (if delay is more than 10 minutes) in such clearance. If the approach sequence is such that succeeding arrivals would be required to hold at levels above APP’s airspace, such arrivals should be cleared to points at the TMA boundary or earlier en-route.

5.4.8 After coordination APP, ACC may clear the 1st arriving aircraft to continue its approach to a beacon or STAR rather than to a holding point.

INFORMATION TO BE COORDINATED WITH APP

5.4.9 ACC shall advise/coordinate the inbound sequence, speeds given, etc.

5.4.10 ACC shall pass any requests made by the pilot, that would be effected in APP’s airspace, to APP. The request(s) could be a different routing, type of approach, etc.
