Overview

As proud members of the IVAO XZ division, we hope that you will enjoy flying in our airspace and that you will be a regular visitor to the most southern part of the African continent.

In this section of our site we will tell you a little more about our countries, our people and the IVAO XZ division and we trust that you will find this to be both informative and interesting.

So sit back, fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the flight!

IVAO ZA – Started in 2000

The IVAO ZA Division was established in 2000 by Jannie Roelofse and Bruce Knowles, and subsequent directors were Eric Truter, Ian Surmon, Keith Cunningham, Fernando Mendes, Jannie Roelofse and Denton Young.

Since becoming a registered IVAO division, South Africa has gone from strength to strength with various initiatives and events to cater for the needs of both new, old local and international virtual pilots and air traffic controllers.

IVAO XZ – Started in 2016

In November 2016 the ZA division decided to include it’s 4 Northern neighbours, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe into a Multi Country Division, named the Southern Africa division.
The newly formed IVAO XZ division now consists of 7 countries, namely Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.

The current Director (XZ-DIR) is Denton Young, supported by Jan Scheepers, the Assistant Director (XZ-ADIR).
