Controlled airspace and ATC

Airspace Classifications

The airspace within the XZ division is divided into 3 classifications: A, C and G.

  • All airspace above FL460 to FL650 is uncontrolled.
  • All airspace FL145 to FL460 is Class A airspace.
  • All controlled airspace below FL145 is Class C airspace.
  • All uncontrolled airspace below FL145 is Class G.

Flight Level restrictions

  • VFR flights shall not be operated FL145 and above, nor at trans-sonic or supersonic speeds.
  • The airspace above FL650 is unclassified, uncontrolled airspace where only IFR flights are allowed.
  • XZ division airspace conforms to RVSM.
